Listening to: “Everybody’s Changing” by Keane

Reading: “Never Let Me Go” by Kazuo Ishiguro

It’s a bit late, but I heard that GMA will “re-make”(!!!) (meaning: defile, destroy, desecrate) a beloved childhood tv show. I direct you to this You Tube Video - Shaider: Ang Bloated na Pulis Pangkalawakan – w/c I deem too stinky to post on my blog, if you would like to see the preview (I guarantee, once you’ve seen it, you won’t want to go ever want to do so again). It’s a good thing I no longer live in QC, otherwise I might die of asphyxia every time I pass the GMA Net Building, because gigantic billboards will no doubt be in place to announce the upcoming show (marky cielo??? = shaider???!!!, and if one isn’t enough, they made three!!! protagonists). I forgot to tell you how horribly bloated the costume looks. gag. I heard Toei Japan declined the re-hashed script – w/c no doubt includes an incredibly weepy, Kikay-esque Ani and a “romantic” Alexis (Dai Sawamura) – NOOOOO!!! (thank goodness), and GMA was permitted instead to make a “sequel”.

Sa susunod Maskman, Bioman o Mask Rider Black naman ang maiisipan nilang babuyin! (wag naman sana!)

listening to: “famous last words” by my chemical romance

“I am not afraid to keep on living
I am not afraid to walk this world alone
Honey if you stay, I’ll be forgiven
Nothing you can say can stop me going home.”

Just got off from work, decided to go “half-day” because of fever.During my day-off- Watched “The Bourne Ultimatum” (an ok film, it’s a bit “flashy” for my taste though, car chases and ceaseless running and skull bashing, instead of galvanizing me, puts me to sleep for some reason,  scenes like that have a certain underlying “rythym” and when i pick it up…it’s off to lala land, but superb in acting as well as story; in fact im planning to collect Robert Ludlum’s “Bourne Trilogy” Books) “Evan Almighty” (bunch of laughs) & “Vacancy” – the first time i actually “cheered” for the protagonists on a ”slasher”/”horror” movie, mainly because they use their intelligence – as person with common sense would- instead of walking into the arms of the killer - (a movie marathon obviously), finished “Jigoku Shojou: Futakumori”, a very sad ending (it can be a bit tedious, but when it got to the point, it really blew me away) Enma Ai’s fate is quite terrible for someone who both suffered and sacrificed a lot (but in a sense she is now “free”). One of those anime w/c leaves an underlying feeling of sadness (quite inexplicable) in me. Bought an Inuyasha DVD (turned out to be a collection of OAVs – as opposed to actual episodes – another job for Mango Manga. But just the same I’m quite delighted to see my favourite characters Kikyo and Sesshoumaru.  :)

“Famous Last Words”

Now I know
That I can’t make you stay
But where’s your heart?
But where’s your heart?
But where’s your…

And I know
There’s nothing I can say
To change that part
To change that part
To change…

So many
Bright lights, they cast a shadow
But can I speak?
Well is it hard understanding
I’m incomplete
A life that’s so demanding
I get so weak
A love that’s so demanding
I can’t speak

I am not afraid to keep on living
I am not afraid to walk this world alone
Honey if you stay, I’ll be forgiven
Nothing you can say can stop me going home

Can you see
My eyes are shining bright
‘Cause I’m out here
On the other side
Of a jet black hotel mirror
And I’m so weak
Is it hard understanding
I’m incomplete
A love that’s so demanding
I get weak

I am not afraid to keep on living
I am not afraid to walk this world alone
Honey if you stay, I’ll be forgiven
Nothing you can say can stop me going home

These bright lights have always blinded me
I say

I see you lying next to me
With words I thought I’d never speak
Awake and unafraid
Asleep or dead

(How can I see, I see you lying) ‘Cause I see you lying next to me
(How can I see, I see you lying) With words I thought I’d never speak
(How can I see, I see you lying) Awake and unafraid
(How can I see, I see you lying) Asleep or dead

‘Cause I see you lying next to me
With words I thought I’d never speak
Awake and unafraid
Asleep or dead

tdvcListening to : “The Scientist” by Coldplay I’m very sleepy today. It’s “high call” again!

Finished The Da Vinci Code. Or almost finished (just a few pages to go). Bit late I know, considering the hype started a few years ago. Very interesting read. An “alternative historical opinion”. A very well written “What If??” One thing is quite right though, the ego of “man” has been running unchecked for centuries (according to the book), by it’s female counterpart (the “goddess”). Come to think of it, early in history there were gods and goddesses (at least in many religious lore), but with the advent of christianity, we are now under the concept of one “God”. The book, was a tribute to the vanished “goddess” or the sacred feminine.

”The quest for the Holy Grail is the quest to kneel before the bones of Mary Magdalene. A journey to pray at the feet of the outcast one.”

“…at it’s heart the quest for the Holy Grail has always been a quest for the Magdalene – the wronged Queen, entombed with the proof of her family’s rightful claim to power…”

-an excerpt from the book.

My sympathies go with Silas (the albino monk). Poor, poor guy. The “leading cast”, Robert Langdon & Sophie Neveu were very well crafted (both were complex and “real”). As were the mad-scientist-esque (or historian, in this case Sir Leigh Teabing (the book describes a portly man, but I keep seeing the movie counterpart, Sir Ian Mckellen in my mind’s eye – the evils of “movie-first”), the desperate Bishop Aringarosa and the well meaning but thoroughly misguided Silas.

strange.

Listening To: “Creep” by Radiohead

Well, I found this rather interesting book (off to the right please). I have started reading this last night. It’s about “magic” set in an alternate 19th century England, specifically about the friendship (and later rivalry) between the two title characters. The book won international acclaim and was nominated for several awards. The writing is to the style of Jane Austen. I like it, on first reading, it may seem a bit tedious, but as you go on, more of the excitement unfolds. well. there you go. Im thinking of getting Neil Gaiman’s Stardust as well (if I can decide whether I should get The Da Vinci Code – with all the hype surrounding this book, am I the only one who hasn’t read it yet? I doubt I’d be “converted though). And I haven’t finished Dostoyevsky’s Crime & Punishment yet. I got to the part where Raskolnikov is on the verge of committing the fatal murder. I can multi-task when it comes to reading, though.

I still have a bad head cold. And I’m rather tired. Good thing it’s a “low-call season” last night. On another topic, I still haven’t decided which anime I want to watch when I go home tomorrow. Probably I’ll finish “Good Luck!” (w/c is a j-drama) or “Jigokou Shojo: Futakomori” (this anime has a great tendency for tedium – some episodes are rather repetitive – before getting to the meat of the story.) And man! It’s time to finish a drawing! (goddamnit!)
